Thickness and finish set the base rate per square foot. Size, processing, quantity and tax decide what the final bill comes to.
Thicker glass uses more float glass and takes longer to heat and quench, so the rate climbs at each step: from ₹56–58 per sq ft for 4mm clear to ₹150–152 for 12mm clear. Toughened laminated glass is two toughened panes bonded with an interlayer, which is why 9.52mm costs more than 12mm single toughened.
Clear is the base rate. Frosted glass is translucent for privacy; tinted, reflective and black toughened glass start from coloured or coated float, which costs more to buy. On single toughened glass, frosted and tinted or reflective are quoted on request.
Toughened glass cannot be cut once it is toughened, so every hole, hinge notch, handle cut-out and edge polish is done first and priced on your drawing. Panels close to our 2400 × 3660 mm maximum need more handling. Send finished sizes in millimetres and we quote the exact work.
There is no minimum order on our toughened glass line, so one shower panel is quoted the same way as a full building. When you have a schedule of many panels in the same thickness, ask for a project rate.

Choose the thinnest glass that is safe for the job. Going thicker than the opening needs adds cost and weight without adding much.

5mm toughened glass costs ₹68–70 per sq ft and 6mm toughened glass costs ₹80–83 per sq ft in clear. These two are what most homes need for windows, shelves and furniture, and they are light enough to handle without special fittings. For frosted, tinted or reflective, see the rate list above.
CLSG is an authorised Saint-Gobain channel partner. We take customised orders, and we use 100% float glass from Saint-Gobain and Emirates Float Glass.
Saint-Gobain India makes float glass, the plain sheet that every toughened pane starts from. Most glass sold as Saint-Gobain toughened glass is that float, cut and toughened by a processor.
CLSG buys 100% of its float glass from Saint-Gobain and Emirates Float Glass and cuts, edges and toughens it in Sonepat. So the Saint-Gobain toughened glass price per sq ft you pay us is the rate in our list: ₹80–83 for 6mm clear, ₹127–129 for 10mm clear and ₹150–152 for 12mm clear.
When you compare quotes, ask each supplier which float glass they toughen. Two rates for the same thickness are only comparable when the float glass is the same.

Toughened glass costs more than normal (annealed) glass of the same thickness, because every sheet is cut, edged, heated and quenched one at a time. The extra pays for strength and for the way it breaks.

Drag to compare how each glass breaks.Break patterns are illustrations over a render.
| Point | Normal glass | Toughened glass |
|---|---|---|
| Price per sq ft | Lower, no heat treatment | Higher: ₹56–152 for 4–12mm |
| Strength | Baseline | About 5 times stronger |
| When it breaks | Long, sharp shards | Small, blunt pieces |
| Heat | Can crack with sudden temperature change | Better thermal shock resistance |
| Cutting later | Can be cut on site | Cannot be cut; sizes are fixed before toughening |
| Where it is used | Picture frames, small fixed panes | Doors, railings, partitions, shower screens |
If the glass goes in a door, a railing, a shower or anywhere people can walk into it, normal glass is a false saving.

Traders and listing sites resell glass that someone else toughened. If you are looking for where to buy toughened glass in Delhi NCR, buying from the plant means one message reaches the people who cut your glass, and the rate you see comes from the source.
CLSG has made safety glass in Sonepat since 1987 and supplies automotive makers including Tata and Volvo-Eicher. The same plant toughens architectural glass for homes, offices and fabricators. Our architectural safety glass is certified by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) under IS 2553 (Part 1), the Indian standard for safety glass in buildings.
Fabricators, dealers and contractors can buy wholesale toughened glass straight from the plant, with project rates on repeat thicknesses. If you are comparing toughened glass manufacturers and suppliers, the trade desk can send a rate sheet and plant details.
We deliver from Sonepat to Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida and Faridabad, and across the rest of NCR:

Short answers to what buyers ask most, with the rate list as the reference for every figure.
Toughened glass is float glass that has been heated close to its softening point and then cooled fast with jets of air, which locks the surface in compression. That makes it about 5 times stronger than the same glass untoughened, and if it does break, it falls into small, blunt pieces instead of sharp shards. It is also called tempered glass.
Yes. CLSG architectural safety glass is certified by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) under IS 2553 (Part 1), the Indian standard for safety glass used in buildings. We make it at our plant in Sonepat, Haryana, from Saint-Gobain India float glass. Ask our team for a copy of the current certificate with your quote.
Look for the manufacturer's mark in one corner of the pane; glass toughened at our plant carries the CLSG mark. The edges are usually ground smooth, because toughened glass cannot be cut after toughening. Through polarised sunglasses, held at an angle, toughened glass often shows faint dark patches or stripes left by the quench. Normal glass does not.
It depends on the thickness and finish. Saint-Gobain India makes the float glass, and a processor such as CLSG toughens it. We use 100% Saint-Gobain India float, so our rate list is the Saint-Gobain toughened glass price: for example ₹80–83 per sq ft for 6mm clear and ₹150–152 for 12mm clear.
5mm toughened glass costs ₹68–70 per sq ft in clear and 6mm toughened glass costs ₹80–83 in clear; frosted and tinted or reflective are quoted on request. Rates are ex-works Sonepat, excluding GST and transport. Holes, cut-outs and special edges are quoted on top.
Frameless doors and railings usually take 12mm toughened glass, from ₹150–152 per sq ft in clear. For all 12mm finishes, sizes and weights, see our 12mm toughened glass price page.
Neither, because they are the same product. Tempered and toughened both describe float glass that has been heated and quenched for strength and safe breakage; tempered is the common term in the US, toughened in India and the UK. Compare thickness, size and the manufacturer's mark instead of the name.
Yes, toughened glass can break, usually from a hard knock on an edge or corner, but it breaks into small, blunt pieces rather than long, sharp shards. That is why it is used as safety glass in doors, shower screens and railings. Where a broken pane must stay in place, such as overhead glass, choose toughened laminated glass.
No. Cut toughened glass is not possible after toughening: it cannot be cut, recut, drilled or edged once it is toughened, and it will shatter. Every cut, hole, notch and edge polish is done on the float glass before it goes into the furnace, which is why we ask you to share exact finished sizes in millimetres, with the positions of any holes or cut-outs, before we quote. Cut-to-size orders are welcome and have no minimum.
Yes. 6mm float glass can be toughened, and 6mm toughened glass costs ₹80–83 per sq ft in clear. It suits windows, shelves, tabletops and furniture; for doors and railings, 10mm or 12mm is the usual choice.
By make-up there are two: single toughened glass, and toughened laminated glass, which is two toughened panes bonded with an interlayer. Both come in clear, frosted, tinted and reflective finishes, and in flat or bent shapes.
Not especially. Toughened glass has the same surface hardness as normal glass, so grit or sharp metal can scratch it, and a deep scratch cannot be polished out the way it sometimes can on annealed glass. Wipe with a soft cloth and clean water, and avoid dragging abrasive particles across the surface.
Usually, yes. Sliding doors in homes and offices use toughened glass, commonly 8mm to 12mm depending on the panel size and the frame or track. Check that the pane carries the manufacturer's mark.
There is no single answer, so compare on facts you can check. Ask which float glass the processor uses, look for the processor's mark on the pane, ask for a current BIS certificate, check the largest size the plant can toughen in one piece, and compare quotes on the same thickness, finish and edge work. CLSG toughens 100% Saint-Gobain India float glass at its plant in Sonepat.
Toughened glass price per square feet depends on thickness and finish: about ₹56 to ₹152 for 4mm to 12mm single toughened and ₹220 to ₹450 for 9.52mm to 22.28mm toughened laminated (ex-works, excluding GST and transport). The rate list gives the figure for each thickness.
Tuffen glass is a common spelling of toughened glass, also called tempered glass, so the rates are the same: from ₹56–58 per sq ft for 4mm clear to ₹150–152 per sq ft for 12mm clear (excluding GST and transport). See the rate list for each thickness and finish.
Roofs, canopies and skylights normally use toughened laminated glass so a broken pane stays in place. The toughened glass for roof price runs from about ₹255–265 per sq ft for 11.52mm clear to ₹320–330 for 17.52mm clear (excluding GST and transport); the supporting frame decides the thickness.
