Curved ballistic glass

Bullet proof glass for vehicles, built to the window

Bullet proof glass for vehicles has to do two jobs at once: stop the rated round and fit a curved opening exactly. CLSG makes curved bullet resistant laminated glass in Sonepat for armouring companies, defence and government fleets. We supply the glass and take up fabrication work on request.

The bullet proof car glass price is set per vehicle, so this page explains what goes into a build and what we need from you to quote it.

Vehicle levels

Where armoured car glass usually sits

Vehicle glass is chosen from the middle of the EN 1063 ladder. The level follows a threat assessment, and every class covers the ones below it. Lower classes are rarely worth the weight saving on a vehicle; higher ones need a heavier build than most doors can carry.

  1. BR4.44 MagnumHandgun tier
  2. BR55.56×45Rifle tier
  3. BR67.62×51Close to NIJ III

Ranges are common industry practice; confirm with your security consultant. EN and NIJ levels are comparable, not identical.

01 Shape

Curved to the opening, layer by layer

A flat ballistic panel won't fit a windshield or a door. We curve each build to the window and match it to the armouring, so glass and steel meet without a weak seam. Send a template, drawing or the vehicle model.

Why curved glass is routine here

The same Sonepat plant has made OEM Windshields since 1987, so curving glass to a vehicle opening is established, everyday work rather than a one-off job.

02 Build

Glass, PVB and a spall shield

Glass plies are bonded with PVB, and a polycarbonate spall shield sits on the cabin side to catch fragments. The strike face cracks first and soaks up the round's energy; the inner layers stop it. More plies mean a higher level and more weight.

Three kinds of vehicle glass

Toughened, laminated and bullet resistant vehicle glass compared

A standard car or bus already carries two kinds of safety glass. Bullet proof glass for vehicles is a third, much heavier build, and this table shows where each one stops.

The diagram shows the order of a typical build, outside face on the left. Each ply has a role. Thicknesses depend on the level, so we confirm them on the quote along with weight per m².

Bulletproof glass cost

What sets the bullet proof car glass price

There's no single rate per vehicle. Four things set it, and we'll walk you through each when you Ask for Bullet Resistant Glass Pricing.

  • LevelHigher classes need more glass and interlayer.
  • Number of windowsWindshield only, or every opening.
  • CurvatureDeep bends take more work per panel.
  • QuantityA fleet order is priced differently from one car.

Who we work with

Armourers, defence fleets and government buyers

Most of our armoured vehicle glass goes to three kinds of buyer, and every order starts the same way: tell us the vehicle, the level you've been advised and the quantity. There's no minimum; one car is priced the same way as a fleet.

Armouring companies

Order sets for the cars and SUVs they convert.

Defence and paramilitary

Order curved panels for patrol and troop vehicles.

Government buyers

Order for escort and VIP fleets.

Before you order

Armoured vehicle glass buyer checklist

Eight points to settle before you ask for a bullet proof car glass price. Most of the answers come from your armourer or security consultant, and having them ready saves a round of emails.

  • Threat assessmentThe level comes from it, not from a catalogue.
  • Rating and suffixFor example BR4-NS, with the test report on request.
  • Frame and armouringThe body around the glass must match its level.
  • Windows and shapeWindshield, doors, rear and quarter glass, each curved.
  • WeightAsk for weight per m² at quote stage, so hinges and regulators can be planned.
  • VisibilityWe've published 80%+ light transmission at 42mm NIJ Level III.
  • Lead time and deliveryConfirmed at quote stage, per set or per fleet batch.
  • Fitting and after-careTrained fitters, edge sealing and delamination checks, done by your armourer.
Fleet glass

Standard glass for the same fleet

Not every vehicle in a fleet needs armour. We also supply laminated windshields and toughened glass for buses and trucks, so one supplier can cover both. See our Bus Glass range, or read About CLSG and the approvals behind it.

Questions

Bullet proof car glass FAQs

What is the bullet proof car glass price?

It depends on the level, the number of windows and how curved each one is, so we quote per vehicle. Send the make and model, the level your armourer advised and the quantity, and you'll get a direct price from the plant.

Can I get bulletproof windows for my car?

Yes, as glass supply. Each panel is curved to the shape of the window and matched to the vehicle's armouring. BR4 to BR6, or NIJ Level II to III, is the usual range. The armouring itself is done by your armouring company.

Do you armour vehicles?

CLSG makes the glass and takes up fabrication work on request. Armouring companies, coach builders and fleet owners usually fit it as part of their own armouring work. Tell us what you need.

How heavy is bullet resistant vehicle glass?

Much heavier than standard glass, and the weight rises with the level. Doors, hinges and window regulators often need upgrading. We give the thickness and weight per m² on the quote so your armourer can plan for it.

Which vehicles have you supplied?

Our curved bullet resistant glass has gone into more than 70 vehicle models for defence, Government of India and paramilitary programmes. For security reasons we don't publish the model list.

Is bullet proof glass the same as bullet resistant glass?

Yes, the names describe the same product. Bullet resistant is the more accurate term, because a rating covers a specific round, a set number of shots and a test distance. Glass rated for a 9mm handgun isn't rated for a rifle.
